After referral from a doctor, the practitioner conducts an interview (anamnesis), followed by an extensive examination with the aim of identifying the cause of the complaints. The examination consists of the following parts:

  1. Taking the anamnesis by podiatrist/register podologist
  2. Inspection of the feet, legs and possibly the back, looking for deviations in posture, functional limitations and abnormalities in the skin, nails, knee or hip
  3. Palpation of the anatomical structures of the foot and possibly the back
  4. Functional examination of the feet and ankles, testing the mobility and stability as well as performing muscle and sensitivity tests
  5. Analysis of the walking pattern, the rolling of the foot, the range of motion in the knee, hip and trunk
  6. Inspection of the foot position and posture on a podoscope (mirror plate)
  7. Making a 2D and/or 3D pressure measurement
  8. Shoe inspection
  9. Setting up the treatment plan
  10. Discussing the diagnoses found and therapeutic options

The practitioner will send a medical report to the referrer with the diagnosed findings and therapy.
